Breaking News: Obama Wins At District 10 Convention

by Pete Wann

After nearly 21 hours of waiting and deliberation, Illinois Sen. Barack Obama has won the State Senate District 10 Convention with 66% of the total delegation.

Both Bernie Scheffler and yours truly were elected as delegates to the State Convention in Austin this June.

I’m going to bed.

Early Voting Starts February 19th

by Pete Wann

If you’re elderly, infirmed, incarcerated, or plan to be out of the country during the early voting period and on March 4th, you can vote early starting today. Check out the Tarrant County Elections website for a list of times and locations.

Update:  You don’t HAVE to be any of those things to go vote early. Anyone can do it. Those are just the reasons for early voting listed on the elections website. :)

You Can’t Spell Democracy Without “YOU”

by Pete Wann

Okay, so my spell-checker says you CAN spell Democracy without using the word “you.” The point is that today is runoff election day in Fort Worth City Council District 9 and State House District 97.

Not sure where you should vote, or even if you’re in either district (it turns out I’m NOT in District 97)? Use this handy voter lookup tool on the County web site. It’ll tell you what districts you’re in (so you can later figure out who to send your nastygrams to), and where your election-day polling place is.

If you’re in District 9 and want a ton more useful information about your candidates and their views on the meaty issues in the election, before you go vote, be sure to check out Steve’s GREAT interviews with Joel Burns and Juan Rangel a bit further down the page.
