Very Protective Bison

This weekend I finally made it out to the Fort Worth Nature Center & Refuge to do some hiking and see what the place is all about. It’s a beautiful area along the river and adjacent to Lake Worth, so there are ample opportunities for wildlife viewing and canoeing, etc.

Here are a few pics from the trip…

OK, perhaps you’ve heard there’s going to be this PrairieFest shindig at Tandy Hills Park on Saturday. The West and Clear posse will be out in full force to support this wonderful park, and to help spread a little more beauty in the Panther City, we’re sponsoring a Haiku Contest at our booth.

Breaking: Construction Crew Successful In Daring Turtle Rescue!

by Pete Wann

Bob the snapping turtle went missing sometime in September when construction was under way on the remodel of the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. He recently resurfaced on the construction site, and his rescue was caught on film!

The whole city is grateful for these brave construction workers who risked missing lunch and possibly losing a finger to make Bob’s life a little better. (Seriously, though, good job folks! Thanks for not just leaving him to get squished by a backhoe.)

Beautiful Springtime

by SteveB

This is a guest post from SteveB, the host of Fort Worth Blogorrhea. Steve works for a locally-based major electronics retailer, from whom I’m sure he could get a decent bug zapper if he really wanted to.the local branch of a national design/build architectural services company, who could totally design him a house made of mosquito netting if he were so inclined. Apparently he’d rather just complain and takes sadistic pleasure in killing the smallest of God’s creatures. We’re glad to have him as a contributor and look forward to more of his observations! -Pete W.

Mosquito Monument

Ah, springtime in Texas. We get to experience, however briefly, weather that is neither hot nor cold. Perfect temperature to get outside and enjoy the elements. Whether a still evening like tonight, with just an occasional whiff of a breeze, or a bright beautiful afternoon, this is certainly the time of year…for bugs. Yep, these are the high holy days for the lowest common denominators of earthly creatures.
