I snapped these photos from my loft last night as the big thunderstorm rolled into downtown and sent Main Street Arts Festival patrons scurrying for the nearest retail space. Even managed to get the last gasp of a lightning bolt in that last photo. Also got a couple of photos showing off the hail that fell during the middle of it all.
Thought the world might like to see them. Click each one for a bigger view.

Two of my favorite local bloggers have local keyboard-related news: Tammy Gomez had kind words for digital composer Carl Stone, who performed in Fort Worth this weekend. And Allison V. Smith had one of her photos of Fort Worth’s own Van Cliburn in The New York Times. Above is the power crop — click thru for the full image. It’s worth it.

The view of downtown from the Amon Carter Museum porch is a fairly common one - so I tried to do something a little more uncommon from this vantage point. The result is what you see above - a panorama image stitched together from several to create a big sweeping view from the Cultural District to Downtown. I’ve never really done a panorama before, and was so pleased with how this one turned out that I had to share it with everybody out there in Readerland. The panorama runs from the newest building of the University of North Texas Health Science Center on the left (silver building at left edge) all the way over to the new Omni Hotel & Condos being built on the right. Possibly the best-named burger ever in the history of burgerdom, in downtown Granbury:

Fellow local photographer Stephen Kinch and I had a photo outing this past weekend, and part of it was a trip to the Trinity Bluffs. Collected here are some of the photos I shot while on the bluffs. You can also view these photos on my Flickr page. Enjoy!

Steve-O, W&C comrade Paul C and I made an early morning foray to the Fort Worth Stock Show to make some photographies and to check out what happens at the crack of dawn in 18 degree weather at the Will Rogers. Enjoy.

Come on down to the Fort Worth Community Arts Center tonight, it’s the monthly reception for all the gallery exhibitions from 6 - 9. Friend of West and Clear Tom Huckabee will be showing his photography, along with Grayson Harper and several other artists. I’ll be out, along with PeteG, covering the arts scene in Fort Worth. If you spot one of us, please stop us and say hello! We always love it when we run into readers of the site.
Hope to see you there!

One of the goals here at West and Clear is to get Fort Worth past the “slowpoke and cowpoke” image. Still, I kinda like wandering through the Stockyards and imagining what Fort Worth was like 125 years ago so here’s a photo essay from a recent weekend north of town.
