The World Series Connection
by Pete WannYou’ll probably figure out pretty quickly next spring that I’m a big baseball fan. I particularly LOVE going to watch the (3 years in a row) American Association Champion Fort Worth Cats up at LaGrave Field.
Now I have a reason to pay attention to the World Series, too! Did you know that Brad Hawpe, the Rockies’ right fielder, is from good old Fort Worth? I didn’t know either, but now I’m glad I do!
(I’m still rooting for the BoSox, but I’ll be happy for Brad if the Rockies win in their first appearance in the World Series.)

I didn’t know that either. I like the Sox, but a hometown player is reason enough for me to cheer for the Rockies…

Another good reason to root for the Rockies is they are donating a playoff share to the family of the coach who was killed by the line drive earlier in the season (Coolbaugh?). A WS victory would be a nice chunk of change for some people who could use it.
