Pete Wann and I dropped in to Scat Jazz Lounge the other night to talk with Ricki Derek and his business partner, Cary Ray, about music and business. And there was lots to talk about.
Ricki’s got a new self-titled CD out, and Scat is hosting a release party on Saturday night (two shows at 6:30 and 8:30). Also, Ricki and Cary just found out that Scat was selected as one of Down Beat Magazine’s Top 100 Jazz Clubs, joining a list that includes legendary jazz venues like New York City’s Birdland, The Blue Note, The Oak Room at the Algonquin and The Village Vanguard. Not bad for Fort Worth, Texas, eh?
