    Hi Kevin,

I mentioned this to Steve-O a week or two ago, but I’m sure he had more important things to remember so, this:

The Cliburn Recital Hall is a great space for performances. I produced thre two-night runs there last year as part of the Other Arts season. The room sounds wonderful, is usefully flexible, the Bass staff is great to work with; I can’t say enough about what a wonderful venue it is.

Except that, from what I can tell, my uses of the space were among the very rare times that the space has been used for a ticketed performance. It’s regularly used by the Orchestra for rehearsals (the room is about the same size as the stage in Bass Hall), it’s often rented out for many wedding receptions and business meetings, and the Cliburn Foundation has used it for video spillover, panel discussions and other freebies during their competitions, but that’s about it.

I’ve got holds on a couple fo dates in winter 2009 for some Other Arts, and there may eventually be other presenters/producers who use the space for performances, but it’s unlikely to be used enough to be included in your weekend roundups of events above the spill page. Especially cause there are so many other worthy frequently used venues which readers have to click to read about.

    Just a suggestion, but hey.
