This just in from Don Young: “Jerry Horton called me just now to report that she was served papers today by Texas Midstream [ Chesapeake Energy's pipeline company]. The court date is August 21 at 9:30 a.m.” Evidently, she can’t afford a lawyer. Should be an interesting hearing.

Please show up at City Council Chambers next Tuesday, August 5th 7pm to support Jerry Horton and/or speak in opposition to the corrosive & dangerous pipeline coming thru the front yards of residents on Carter Ave and/or ANY of our neighborhood streets here in beautiful Ft. Worth!! This is absurd!! Please come support Jerry Horton and/or our neighborhoods next Tuesday night 7 pm City Hall.
Shall we employ rentafrog for valet parking?
Power to the People! Come on, let’s do it. Demand a Moratorium NOW, until we know more!

Until we have a “Master Plan” (thanks to an attorney for the idea) Ft. Worth needs a Master Plan. (None of our City Council members thought of this, the idea came from outside the Council — that ’scarey to me!!)
Start reading the Utility Code for the State of Texas. Don’t believe the City Officials when they tell you. “Ms. so-n-so, our hands are tied, we have no power. There is nothing we can do.” WRONG!

From the last meeting in Meadowbrook, it seemed like two different stories were coming from Kathleen Hicks (Councilperson), and Laura Jones (one of many Chesapeake PR reps) in regards to “where they were” in “negotiations” of Carter pipeline location. Kathleen Hicks made it sound like going North of I30 was still an option but it would have to include Corp of Engineers approval (being that it would be part of the Trinity Vision Gateway Park plans). (To my recollection.) Laura Jones of Ches. spoke as if Carter pipeline was a done deal and all decisions had been made. I would go to my grave saying that it’s still an alive deal in the making and who’s making the deal for East Ft. Worth would be such a wonderful thing to know. If you listen closely to Hicks, Chesapeake and Mayor Moncrief, it doesn’t seem like they are all singing the very same song. I think East Ft. Worth can overcome this obstacle in our revitalization, but it will take the help of many of you. Please please show up in City Council Chambers, Tuesday, August 5th at 7pm. Please stand up in support of Jerry Horton and/or the West Meadowbrook Neighborhood Association as well as the Sycamore Heights Neighbrhood Association which Jerry Horton is President. It’s a really beautiful part of Ft. Worth and we want to keep it; as we know you want to keep your part of this great City. Thank you WestandClear for all that you do for Ft. Worth.

Reports are that Chesapeake is moving forward with pipeline down Carter Ave. Star-telegram reports that Council will have to approve permit for pipeline. If the City of Ft. Worth does not have any control over the pipeline routes, why will the issue go before Council for permitting?

The City Council has the authority to govern if and where pipelines cross city streets. If they were so inclined, the council could exercise a good bit of control over the drillers using this mechanism. However, it could open them up for lawsuits, which might explain some of their hesitance to do so.
