Steve-O - Just wondering why you choose to use the words “Old Lady?” It’s sort of like the court proceedings in the Trinity Trees case calling the lady who filed the lawsuit ” a mere citizen” therefore she had no voice (or something along those lines). Why deminish Jerry Horton to just an “Old Lady?” What does “Old Lady” have to do with anything? Is it the “Old” part or the “Lady” part that matters so much?

Mea culpa, Suzette, and my apologies to Ms. Horton. I’m willing to take my lumps on this one. But for the record, I wish to state that I am in awe of Ms. Horton’s tenacity. I bet that 99.9% of us wouldn’t function so well in such trying circumstances. I admire the amount of fight this woman has, and I think that the rest of us in Fort Worth owe it to her to support her in whatever way we can. A good first step would be to turnout at the Aug. 7 pipeline meeting a City Hall.
She is right. The city is not protecting its citizens and its neighborhoods. We as a city must demand better.

Steve’s use of the term “old lady” was surely meant to create an appropriate visual of the scene at council. I’m absolutely sure that it wasn’t a sign of disrespect. and I only hope that I still have it in me when I’m her age to be charming, strong and ardent.
In fact, I’m sure that Ms. Horton’s gumption will remind us all that polite discourse with council goes only so far. The mayor reprimanded her last council session for “calling” Chesapeake arrogant.
I say she has every right to say her piece and she has every right to a smack down with Jungus Jordan or anyone else who sits on the docket and talks the talk but doesn’t even get to the walking.
I remind you that only 2 council members bothered to show up for the only public comment session with the gas drilling task force while the others - including Mayor Mike - joined Aubrey McClendon at the Chesapeake Tower lighting party.
rock on, Ms. Horton. We’re with you!!!

Can someone direct me to the article on what Ms. Horton had to say at the Council Meeting? Thanks

I do not think Steve-O meant disrespect at all to Ms. Horton. I think Margaret Thatcher for one was a feisty old girl, and I mean that with the greatest respect. I hope my two daughters grow up to be feisty old girls.
