Paul Burka of Texas Monthly reports than Kay Bailey Hutchison is going to run for Governor in 2010. Why should we care here in the 817? Because Burka says that Fort Worth’s own Kay Granger intends to run for Hutchison’s Senate seat after Hutchison resigns about a year from now. So if that happens, who runs for Granger’s seat?

Granger is a dirty girl. I asked her why she had an environmental score of zero and she claimed to have voted for many environmental laws. So, I gave her my email and told her to mail them to me. HA! She mailed me a few bills she voted on with names that sounded environmentally friendly but were really give-aways for oil and gas. She thinks we are stupid. http://txsharon.blogspot.com/2007/12/kay-granger-thinks-were-stupid.html

Kay is a sellout. She fought for the Trinity Uptown boondoggle and “installed” her son as the PM for the project. That is dirty.
As far as the 2010 gubernatorial race, i have two words: Kinky Friedman!!

Never have had the chance to meet/talk with Kay. I only know JD, who I do like. He’s a good guy. I do like Kay’s building downtown. Nifty work on that.
offtopic…
I take issue with calling Trinity Uptown a “boondoggle.” From my perspective, it’s one of the most important and positive things we’ve ever done in this city, and I can’t wait to see it progress.

The boondoggle is in the eye of the beholder …
… however, I will insert the obligatory Kay Granger - J.D. Granger - Bryan Eppstein TRV coziness link.

Well obviously Clyde Picht will run, he runs for something every year.
Here’s my predication. If Wendy Davis wins the State Senate race, Mayor Moncrief will conclude that Cowtown is blue enough for him to run for Granger’s seat as a Democrat. Having raised the city’s budget 150% I’d say the mayor would fit in well in D.C. ‘Sides, unlike here in Fort Worth, when the politicians in Washington go over budget they just print more money.
Other possibilities:
Let’s not forget Congresswoman Granger’s son, J.D. Might was well keep the seat in the family.
Lastly, any chance W&C’s Bernie might just run, or should that be bicycle, for the office?

I’m surprised (and a little flattered) to hear my name tossed out concerning this office.
Might as well put the rumours to rest, though. Running for Congress is the last thing on my mind right now. I’m putting all my time and energy into helping Wendy Davis get elected to the Texas State Senate.

I’d be interested to find out if JPS would vote for Bernie. Do tell.

If Moncrief ever departs, I’d be up for a mayoral run. Might be fun. The W&C staff knows my plan for a campaign poster…
