2008 Fort Worth Guitar Guild Festival

by Bernie

Back in February, I wrote about a Fort Worth Guitar Guild concert I attended and mentioned their website was woefully out-of-date.

Well, Guild Director Mitch Weverka has heard our cries for updates, and a new site is up with information about their 2008 festival which runs from July 22-25 at The Modern.

I can’t think of a more ideal place to listen to classical guitar than in the presence of other great art, so this is a concert series I don’t want to miss. I’ll see you there.

  1. I’ll definitely be at some of the guild’s events.

In addition to updating their website, I think leaving flyers at Benitos was was a hip move haha! Knowing I was a musician, Jesus handed me one when I was in for lunch one day.

Also, I’d like to chime in and plug the “The Fort Worth Classical Guitar Society” (FWCGS) whose concerts I’ve attended include heavyweights such as Pepe Romero, Xuefei Yang, and John Williams and …. Guitar Fort Worth. Though I haven’t made it to any of GFW’s concerts yet they have pulled in Eliot Fisk, twice now I believe, which is a huge deal.

FWCGS’s events are also held at the Modern or the Scott Theater / TCU’s Cantey Hall if more seats are needed. I think FWG’s events are usually at Texas Weslyan.
