Decent Beer at The Ballpark?

Although I haven’t been to a Rangers game in a couple of years, I do remember that there was a woefully inadequate selection of beers, particularly LOCAL beers.
Apparently that situation has been remedied — I just got word from friend of W&C Jamie Brunner that the Rangers have decided finally to acknowledge that they are a participant in the local community and are now carrying local (to Texas, at least) beers.
Breweries featured include our own Rahr & Sons, Houston’s Saint Arnold, and the old standby, Shiner. The stand (according to reports) is outside section 137.
It’s about time! Minute Maid Park/The Astros have been doing this for a couple of years now, even featuring Saint Arnold a few times for special events. It’s nice to see The Rangers take even this small step.

Thanks for noticing that you can get Saint Arnold at The Ballpark in Arlington and Minute Maid Park. You can get an Amber Ale during an Astros game and for the Rangers you can find some Fancy Lawnmower.

I was at the game Wednesday night and was glad to find a Shiner! Didn’t see the Rahr & Sons or I would have had one of those. The stand I went to was around section 220. I was just glad to have something that didn’t come in a plastic bottle.

I think there have been for years a few concession stands at the Ballpark called “Beers of the World” or something like that. I sat on the upper level on the third base side a few weeks ago and remember them having Shiner as well as a variety of European and Mexican beers. If I recall, the beers from this stand were like $5 (albeit for a 12 oz bottle)instead of the $7 or so you pay for a Mega-brew American light beer in a 16 oz bottle. It’s great that the selection is getting better, though, with more local varieties - always nice to have a wide selection when you are being overcharged for beer!

The Ballpark has carried Shiner for years and carrying St Arnold and Rahr, I would bet, is not profitable. However when they do step up to the plate and carry those brands you kick them for not doing it sooner, talk about a no win deal with you.
