Fort Worth Cats Opening Day Tonight!
by Pete WannIf you’re not going to Wendy Davis’ birthday party tonight, I highly encourage all of you to join me tonight at La Grave Field to watch the Cats take on the Sioux Falls Canaries on Opening Day.
The game starts at 7:05, and there will be fireworks after the game.
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: the Cats are the best value in family entertainment in the city, and possibly the entire Metroplex. Tickets start at $4, and the most expensive seats in the house are only $12. You can’t even park at Whatever-the-hell-it’s-called-now Park in Arlington that cheaply, I don’t think. I know $4 won’t even buy a beer there. (Of course it won’t at La Grave, either, but it’s still cheaper.)
Seriously — drag the clan out on a school night for the festivities, you won’t be disappointed.

Wendy’s party starts at 5:30, so you can do both! Stop by Southside Preservation Hall (1519 Lipscomb) and have a free beer, partake of the taco bar (courtesy of Fuzzy’s), meet Wendy and hear about her state senate campaign, play a game or two, and then go see the Cats, who as Pete pointed out, are kind of a big deal. They win championships.

Dodger wins championships. The players just catch his drippings which is good enough for back to back TO BACK championship seasons.

Looks like a tough loss for the Hometown 9 last night. Dodger really beats himself up over a loss, but he REALLY beats himself up over a loss when there’s ceremonial bunting involved.
I hope he spends the day taking deep breaths and goes out again tonight and turns this thing around.
Hang in there Dodger. We’re all counting on you.

Thank goodness it is time again for Fort Worth’s Boys of Summer.
It is indeed the best entertainment value in the Metroplex… and good wholesome fun for the entire family, at that!
