Great shot. I’m getting hitched there this summer and I’m pretty stoked about the photogenic nature of that building. Downtown Fort Worth wouldn’t be the same without it.

They should build loft apartments there. Prime location!

I bet there’s room for a gas well between Jesus and the church. That would really fill the Sunday collection plates!

Cute, but actually - you COULD do some amazing infill there. Not on the church site, but on the church *parking lot* site.
I would love to see development replace the church’s parking lots fronting 7th. A talented architect could come up with designs for infill - probably on the order of 3 or 4 stories - that could fill both lots, respect the context with the church with suitable architecture, and still leave the sightline to the church intact. And of course, the statue in the current lot would remain (I envision the section where the statue is becoming either a street or pedestrian path with the statue in the center.
Development doesn’t have to be insensitive.
In my mind, the space I’m picturing would come out looking very old-world European. It would be an awesome environment, with well-designed mixed-use structures enclosing the space and the church terminating the pedestrian street. I’d set the new buildings back a bit from the path/statue with a plaza to ensure full visibility of the church.
I’d love to see that happen. Replace both those parking lots and the one across the street next to the Burnett Plaza garage.
It would be a lot like churches in Europe, nestled amid mixed-use structures. Like how St. Patrick’s Cathedral USED to be, before the Convention Center wiped out Hell’s Half Acre.
