Trinity River Is Running a Little Low
by Steve-OAlthough this was in the Startlegram several weeks ago, we’ve gotten enough e-mails about it to feel the need to post something. People are wondering — what’s the deal with the Trinity River?
Yes, the Trinity River is a little bit low. The water district opened the valve in its Beach Street dam last week to lower the water level and allow crews to repair a drainage structure at Texas 121. Water levels will remain low for at least six weeks, a district spokesman told the S-T.
And, yes, they are finding things like cars. And a West and Clear reader e-mailed yesterday and wanted to know, “What are those rusty barrels in the river by Riverside Park?”
Good question. Pete Wann is checking on that right now.

I wonder where Chesapeake is getting their fracing water now? They used to have those really large hoses stuck down in the river. Surely they aren’t using our drinking water are they?

Chesapeake is paying customer of the TRWD. I presume that the TRWD didn’t/wouldn’t leave them in the lurch.
